Questions
and Answers
Why are plant-derived
enzymes superior to those obtained from animal sources?
Plant-derived enzymes are active
in a broad pH range from 2 to 10 and temperature ranges between 24 and
50°C. These are well within the normal pH and temperature ranges
of the human body. They are capable of digesting the full range of food
groups (protein, carbohydrate and fat), their wider pH range of activity
allows them to function throughout the digestive tract. On the other
hand, animal-based enzymes tend to function in a narrow pH range and
are usually only capable of digesting proteins. Taking enzymes derived
from animal sources can increase the risk of inter-species disease.
I
have a fairly healthy diet and I don't have symptoms of poor digestion.
Should I take Nn Enzyme Plus?
Yes! You have everything to gain. Supplementation is a must as long
as your diet consists of cooked and/or processed foods -- your food
is enzyme-deficient! This puts unwanted stress on the body's resources
and organs of digestion. Less energy is available to rebuild tissues
and cells, and to rebalance the body's metabolism. To avoid enzyme deficiencies,
include plenty of fruits and vegetables and take Nn Enzyme Plus with
meals to improve your health and to maintain peak digestion.
Rather than take
Nn Enzyme Plus, wouldn't it be better if I eat only uncooked foods? After
all, raw foods are brimming with enzymes.
A totally raw diet may appear to be the best solution, but it is
certainly not practical, and in most cases, not medically advisable.
There are usually only enough enzymes in a particular raw food to break
down that food. For example, if you enjoy raw salad, remember that it
will not give you the proteases to digest the protein in your steak
or chicken. Due to the risk of bacterial or micro-organism contamination,
many foods should not be eaten raw, particularly meats, poultry and
eggs. Raw nuts, seeds, beans and grains contain enzyme inhibitors which
may irritate the gastrointestinal tract. Moreover, the body's inability
to produce cellulase makes the fiber content found in many raw plant
foods difficult to digest. Supplementing with Nn Enzyme Plus is convenient
- it provides a spectrum of plant-derived digestive enzymes that can
break down protein, carbohydrate, fat and fiber.
Can Nn Enzyme
Plus be taken safely with medications?
Some medications can have undesirable interactions with digestive
enzymes. Please refer to the Drug Interactions Safety Check for specific
information about your medication. It is always good to allow a two
to three hour interval between Nn Enzyme Plus and any medications. If
you are unsure about your medication and its interaction with enzymes,
please consult your physician.
