Building a "Diamond
Directory"
It's really a good idea to list of all the people that you know. Sociologists
say that if you are over the age of 20, you know 2000 people or more!
You may have forgotten their names, or you may have forgotten their faces,
but you have probably met over 2000 people in your lifetime. Start listing
people now and see how many you can think of. Add to the list every day.
Don't worry if all you remember is something like "Kevin's cousin"
or "my hairdresser's old boyfriend." List them anyway. List
anyone you can recall meeting anywhere. The goal is QUANTITY, not quality.
You'll sort through your list later and throw out any "duds",
and you won't have to contact anyone you don't want to. Just make the
list as long as you possibly can.
There are three really important reasons why you should make this list.
- So you can decide who you might want to
contact.
- So you'll start your mental juices flowing
and create synchronicity. If you add to your list every day, you will
be amazed at how the forces of the universe seem to line up to help
you. You'll find yourself "magically" remembering people and
even running into them! All because you focused your mind on thinking
of, and finding good prospects.
- To have a physical reminder that no matter
how many people you talk to, or how many people say no to your opportunity
THERE
WILL ALWAYS BE MORE PROSPECTS!
Obviously not everyone will want to build an eCosway
business network, just like not everyone wants to be a doctor, dentist,
or engineer! But on the other hand, many people will! Your job is just to
sort through them and find the ones who do.
The following is a memory jogger. Use it to make your list and to recall
names and faces you may have forgotten.
Making Your List
FAMILY MEMBERS (parents, grandparents, brothers,
sisters,aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.)

Now find some S.T.A.R.S.
After you have listed absolutely everyone you can think of, go through the
list and analyze each person according to the STARS formula.
S-uccessful, Self-starter
T-eam player
A-mbitious, achiever
R-estless
S-ociable
Put 0-5 stars next to each name depending on which of
the following characteristics they possess. Here is the criteria that you'll
use:
S stands for Successful, Self-Starter.
Is this person self-motivated? Do they have an entrepreneurial flair? Give
one star to anyone who is a successful self-starter.
T stands for Team Player. Does this
person seem like the type who enjoys working with and supporting others?
Do they know how to get results through people- or would they rather work
solo? Give one star to anyone who is a team player.
A stands for Ambitious Achiever. Has
this person been successful in their other endeavors? Have they accomplished
their goals? Give one star to anyone who is an achiever.
R stands for Restless. Is this person
dissatisfied with their current status or lifestyle and looking for new
avenues to express themselves, or to make more money? Give one star to anyone
who is restless.
S stands for Sociable. Is this a "people
person"? Do they like to meet new people? Are they warm and friendly?
Give one star to anyone who is sociable.
Now Narrow It Down
Once you have given each of your names 0-5 stars, go through and choose
the "hottest prospects". Make two more lists:
- HOT PROSPECT LIST: People that
you think are good prospects for eCosway and whom you would be willing
to contact if you had their contact information. (You may or may not
have the contact information yet)
- CHICKEN LIST: People that you think
are good prospects for eCosway but whom you are too "chicken"
(scared) to talk to about it for whatever reason. You don't have to
do anything with this list right now, but anytime you want to push yourself
or break through a new barrier, you can choose someone off this list
and "Go For It!"
