Step
5 - Set Your Goals
A famous cliché
is, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail". Luckily, this isn't entirely
true in your eCosway business. The system is so well designed, that if
you just start spreading the word, you should be able to generate an income.
However, if you really want to ensure success, you should take this business
seriously and set some serious goals.
Earl Nightingale once said, "A life without a goal is like a ship without
a rudder." What are the chances that a ship without a rudder will end
up safely in a nice port? Not very high! In fact, without a rudder, it
might drift aimlessly for years.
To make a successful journey, a ship needs a captain who decides on a
precise destination and a rudder to keep the ship on track until it gets
there. Your career as an eCosway Business Owner is no different. You need
to decide exactly what you want to accomplish with your business, and
you need to goals to keep you on track.
Specific goals have a way pushing us beyond what we think are our capabilities.
For example, if you say, "I think I'll jog as far as I can today",
you'll jog until you start hurting (which usually doesn't take long),
and then you'll quit. But if you say, "I'm going to jog down to the school
on Emerson Street", you aren't likely to quit until you get to the school
- no matter how tired you feel.
The same is true in this business. If you decide to "try to bring in as
many people as possible, it's not likely that you'll bring
in too many. You'll think about it once in a while, but how you define
"as many as possible" will change with your moods.
On the other hand, if you've decided that in order to achieve your goals,
you need to bring in 5 shoppers and 1 Business Owner per month, you probably
won't quit till you get them. Even if you only have 2 days left in the
month, and you've only got 2 shoppers so far, you'll probably harness
all of your resources and figure out how to reach your target before the
month runs out.
Goals are a powerful way to push yourself. Tony Robbins always says, "You'll
never know how far you can go until you go too far." Make sure you set
your goals high enough to keep you on your toes and stretching yourself!
Decide how far you want to go and how much money you need to make to get
there. Study the profit plan and decide what actions you will have to
take to earn that much. Then set specific goals that ensure the level
of success you truly desire.
